Then,
 3x - 10

(3x - 10) + 5 = 2x + 5

  3x - 10 + 5 = 2x + 5

       3x - 5 = 2x + 5

[That's the correct answer, but if we solve it we find
that Maria is 10 years old and her father is 20, which
means that he was only 10 when Maria was born!!!  I
suppose that's possible and maybe it has happened.  But 
most boys age 10 are NOT fathers!  Maybe Maria is only 
his stepdaughter and he married Maria's mother who is 30 or
older. J]
