Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The sum of bill and ted's age is 60. In two years, Bill will be 3 times as old as Ted. How old are Bill and Ted now?
------
Equations:
b + t = 60
b+2 = 3(t+2)
-----
b - 3t = 4
b + t = 60
----
Subtract and solve for "t":
4t = 56
t = 14 (Ted's age now)
------
Solve for "b":
b + t = 60
b + 14 = 60
b = 46 (Bill's age now)
