So
You are told that 10 years ago he was 1/6 her age then

she is 40 now.
That makes suman 40 - 25= 15 now
ten years ago, he would have been 5 and his Mom would have been (40-10) = 30
Is 5 equal to 1/6 of 30?

x - 10 = 6(x-35)
x-10 = 6x - 210
200 = 5x
40= x, the mother's age now. suman is 15.
