Hi,

mona took 3 minutes to complete a race and lydia required 3.5 minutes to run the same race.

 mona's rate was 10 meters per minute more than lydias's rate, find their rates.

Question states*** distance the same, D = rt,  Mona's rate is    

  3(r+10) = 3.5r

      30 = .5r

       30/.5 = r = 60m/min, lydia's rate, Mona's rate 70m/min
