Three years ago a man was eight times as old as his son age 

In two years he will be four and a half time as old as the son

Question ALSO states*** Using 5 years from 3 years ago...

 8x + 5 = 9/2(x+5)   |Multiplying thru by 2 so as all denominators = 1

  16x +10 = 9x + 45

       7x = 35

        x = 5, son's age 3 years ago, father was 40

Presently the son is 8 and the father is 43
