Let t = the number of years
In t years, the father will be 50 + t and the son will be 22 + t
If the father is twice as old as the son, we can write
50 + t = 2(22 + t)
Solve for t:
50 + t = 44 + 2t
t = 6
In 6 years the father will be twice as old
