Question 571513: The difference between two number is 9. Twice the larger number is 5 times the smaller number. Find the numbers.
Answer by ikdeep(226)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let the two numbers be x and y
as per 1st condition;
x-y = 9 .....(1)
as per 2nd condition;
2x = 5y
or x = 5y/2........(2)
put the value of 'x' from (2) into (1)and we get
(5y/2) + y = 9
solve the equation and we get
y = 6
put the value of y in (1) and we get
x= 15
hope this will help you
