Then Debbie's age now = M/5
Given: In 6 years, Maria will be twice as old as Debbie:
M + 6 = 2(M/5 + 6)
Solve for M:
M + 6 = 2M/5 + 12
3M/5 = 6
M = 10
So Maria is 10 years old
