Cindy is 14 years less than twice the age of her husband
c=2h-14.......(1)
the sum of their ages is 55
c+h=55
c=55-h........(2)
Put the value of c from (2) to (1)
c=2h-14
55-h=2h-14
-h-2h=-14-55
-3h=-69
-3h/-3=-69/-3
h=23
Put the value of h in (1)
c=2h-14
c=2(23)-14
c=46-14
c=32

Present age of husband = h = 23 years old
Present age of cindy = c = 32 years old
