Present age of Ann = a
Present age of Kim = k
Ann age is three times kims
a=3k.......(1)
In four years
Ann will be = a+4
Kim will be = k+4
Then
Ann will be twice as old as kim
a+4=2(k+4)
a+4=2k+8
a=2k+8-4
a=2k+4...........(2)
Put the value of a from (1) to (2)
a=2k+4
3k=2k+4
3k-2k=4
k=4
Put the value of k in (1)
a=3k
a=3*4
a=12

Present age of Ann = a = 12
Present age of Kim = k = 4
