(22+x) = 3(2+x)

22+x = 6 + 3x
2x = 16
x = 8

Let = the number of years until
the father is 3 times older than the son
In 8 years the father will be 3 times older than the son
check:
In 8 years the father will be 22 + 8 = 30
In 8 years the son will be 2 + 8 = 10
The father will be 3 times older
