Answer by rfer(16322)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
susan=x
larry=x+2
nathan=2x
-------
x+x+2+2x=30
4x=30-2
4x=28
x=28/4
x=7
x+2=9
2x=14

Answer by oberobic(2304)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
L = S+2
so
S = L-2
.
N = 2*S
.
L+S = 30
so
S = 30-L
.
S=S, so we can substitute the values of S.
.
L-2 = 30-L
2L = 32
L = 16
.
Thereofre,
S = 14
.
N = 2*S -28
.
Is the sum of L+S = 30? Yes.
Is Nathan 2*S? 2*14=28. Yes.
Correct.
.
Answer:
Larry is 16.
Susan is 14.
Nathan is 28.
.
Done.
