Present age of Henry = x
Twenty three years ago means he was = (x-23)
Then twice of his age will be = 2(x-23)
Present age of Henry = Twice his age of 23 years ago + 7 years
x=2(x-23)+7
x=2x-46+7
x=2x-39
x-2x=-39
-x=-39
Multiply by (-1) both sides of the equation
x=39
Present age of Henry = 39 years old
