multiply both sides by 3
3n = m

Five years ago, she was only one-fifth of the age of her mother.
n - 5 = (m-5)
multiply both sides by 5
5(n-5) = m - 5
5n - 25 = m - 5
5n = m - 5 + 25
5n = m + 20
replace m with 3n
5n = 3n + 20
5n - 3n = 20
2n = 20
n =
n = 10 yrs old is Nona's age
