I need your help,please help me to answer this.
Ivy is 8 years older than Beverly. Three years ago,Beverly was 2 years more than one-third as old as Ivy was then. How old is Ivy now?

Let assume Beverly age = x then Ivy age = x+8 years.
3 years ago, Beverly age = x-3 , Ivy age = x+8-3 = x+5
according to question,
x-3 = (x+5)/3 + 2 ........ [2 years more than one-third of Ivy age]
=> x-5 = (x+5)/3
=> 3(x-5) = x+5
=> 3x -15 = x +5
=> 3x -x = 5 + 15
=> x= 20/2 = 10

present age of Beverly is 10 years,
Ivy age = 10+8 = 18 years.
