Hi
Let x and y represent the number of catfish and blue gills respectively
Question states***
x + y = 75
3x + 2y = 175
Solving for x by sustitution: y = 75-x
3x + 2(75-x) = 175
x = 25, the number of catfish. 50 the number of bluegills (75-25)
CHECKING our Answer***
3*25 + 2*50 = 175
