Answer by robertb(5830) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
s = age of son
s+40 = age of Jon
==>(s+10) + (s+40 + 10) = 90
==>2s + 60 = 90
==> 2s =30
==> s = 15, the age of the son, and
s + 40 = 55, the age of John.
