Answer by robertb(5830)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
j = 3s,
j+5 = 2(s+5). By direct substitution,
3s+5 = 2s+10,
3s-2s = 10-5,
s = 5, the age of sam, while,
j = 3*5 = 15, the age of john.
