son's age.After three years, father's age will be ten years more
than twice the son's age.What is the father's present age.
ANS:
I tried it like dis
let son's age be x and father's be y
So,from Ist condition v have
y=3x+3
and second we have
y+3=2(3x+3)+10
I dont know where i m getting wrong.

You're mixing up the present and future ages in the equations.

I'll use F for the father's age, S for the son's.
Father's age is three years more than three times the
son's age.
1.
After three years, the father will be F+3 and the son will be S+3.

Now since they're both equal to F set them equal to each other and solve for S.

Your first equation is spot on:

But your second one has a problem. Since today the son is years old and the father is years old, in three years the son will be and the father

Then, according to the second condition:

Now add -3 to both sides of the second equation:

Now you have equal to two different things. Set them equal to each other:

And solve for
