Let y = no. of year for this to be true
Son's present age = *24 = 4 yrs old
:
Find out when J is twice his son's age
24 + y = 2(4 + y)
24 + y = 8 + 2y
24 - 8 = 2y - y
16 = y

In 16 yrs, son will be half J's age

4 + 16 = .5(24 + 16)
20 = .5(40)
