Hello,
Let's set up an example.
Joe is 12 years old and someone else is 2/3 older.
2/3 of 12 is 8 years old. (Multiply 2/3 times 12)
Therefore, the other person is 20 years old because you add 8 and 12. Here's what it would look like in algebra:
2x/3 + x = the age of the older person.
Put an age in for x and you'll see how old the other person is.
Note: if the problem said 2/3 younger then it would look like this:
2x/3 = age of the younger person
