Step 1. Let x be the age of Mr. Mustard.

Step 2. Let 3x be three times the age of Mr. Mustard.

Step 3. 3x-8=100 since eight less than three times my age is 100.

Step 4. Solving the equation in Step 3 yields the following steps:

Add 8 to both sides of the equation





Divide 3 to both sides of the equation





Step 5. ANSWER. Mr Mustad is 36 years old.
