You can
put this solution on YOUR website!Jack is twice as old as Jill was, when Jack was as old as Jill is now. Together Jack and Jill are 28 years old. How old is Jack? How old is Jill?
Step 1. Let x be age of Jill and 2x be age of Jack.
Step 2. x+2x=28 as given by the statement
With x=28/3 or 9 years and 4 months, then 2x=56/3 or 18 years and 8 months where 1 year = 12 months or 1/3 year = 4 months and 2/3 year = 8 months
Step 3. Answer Jill is 9 years and 4 months and Jack is 18 years and 8 months.
I hope the above steps were helpful.
