Let A=current age
Let D=daughter's current age
"9 years ago i was 15 times as old as my daughter"
A - 9 = 15(D-9)
A - 9 = 15D - 135
A = 15D -126
"Now I am 6 times as old as she is."
A = 6D
Since A = 6D, we can substitute that into A = 15D -126 giving the expression
6D = 15D - 126
Solve for D
9D = 126
D = 14
And since A = 6D, solve for A
A = 6*14
A = 84

s=6d............eq 2

take s's value from eq 2 which is 9d and plug that into every occurence of s in eq 1

Let the movie star's current age be x then the movie star's age nine years ago would be

Let the daughter's current age be y then the daughter's age nine years ago would be

"9 years ago, I was 15 times as old as my daughter." So:

"Now I am 6 times as old as she is." So:

Substituting:

Distribute and collect:

So the daughter is 14 now, hence the movie star is

Check: Nine years ago he was 84 - 9 = 75. Nine years ago the daughter was 14 - 9 = 5. 5 X 15 = 75. Answer checks.
