Let m=amount of extra meat
Cost of the extra meat=0.30m
Now we are told that the cost of the basic sub(5.35) plus the cost of the extra meat(0.30m) equals 6.55. So, our equation to solve is:
5.35+0.30m=6.55 subtract 5.35 from both sides
5.35-5.35+0.30m=6.55-5.35 collect like terms
0.30m=1.20 divide each side by .30
m=4 ounces---------------amount of extra meat that he ordered

5.35+1.20=6.55
6.55=6.55
