n = Nick's age right now
n-14 = his sister's age right now

Six years ago, Nick was n-6 years old.
This is twice as much as his sister's current age.
Nick's past age = 2*(sister's current age)
n-6 = 2(n-14)
n-6 = 2n-28
n-2n = -28+6
-n = -22
n = 22
Nick is currently 22 years old
His sister is currently n-14 = 22-14 = 8 years old.

Six years ago, Nick was 22-6 = 16, which is double that of 8.
