Let x be the granddaughter age.

Then Lucas' age is (x+50) years, since he is 50 years older.


From the problem,

    x + 50 = 4x + 2.


Simplify and find x

    50 - 2 = 4x - x

       48  =   3x

        x  =   48/3 = 16.


ANSWER.  Granddaughter is 16 years now.
