write an equation for each statement
:
Krutika is 11 years older than Gordon.
k = g + 11
Pip is 12 years younger than Gordon.
p = g - 12
If the total of their ages is 77,
k + g + p = 77
replace k with (g+11), replace p with (g-12)
(g+11) + g + (g-12) = 77
3g - 1 = 77
3g = 77 + 1
3g = 78
g = 78/3
g = 26 is G's age

P: 26 - 12 = 14 and has to be the youngest

Krutika is 11 years older than Gordon. Pip is 12 years younger than Gordon. If the total of their ages is 77, how old is the youngest of them? 
You don't have to determine all their ages to find the youngest's.

It's quite obvious that of the 3, Pip is the youngest

Let Pip's age be P

Then Gordon's is P + 12, and Krutika's is P + 12 + 11, or P + 23

We then get: P + P + 12 + P + 23 = 77

3P + 35 = 77

3P = 42
