Found 2 solutions by VFBundy, MathTherapy:Answer by VFBundy(438) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website! Sushil's age = x
Sara's age = x + 7
June's age = x - 4
x + (x + 7) + (x - 4) = 87
x + x + 7 + x - 4 = 87
3x + 3 = 87
3x = 84
x = 28
Sushil's age = x = 28
Sara's age = x + 7 = 28 + 7 = 35
June's age = x - 4 = 28 - 4 = 24 The eldest among then, Sara, is 35. Answer by MathTherapy(10555) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Sara is 7 years older than Sushil. June is 4 years younger than Sushil. If the total of their ages is 87, how old is the eldest of them?
It's quite obvious from reading this that Sara is the eldest
Let Sara's age be S
Then Sushil's is S - 7, and June's is: S - 7 - 4, or S - 11
We then get: S + S - 7 + S - 11 = 87
3S - 18 = 87
3S = 105
Sara, or
