Even a second grade or third grade student, who doesn't know yet what an equation is and how to solve them, can resolve this problem. Subtract 3 years from Erica's age, 27-3 = 24, and then divide the result by 2 to get the Carl's age. ANSWER. Carl is 24/2 = 12 years old.
