Then at that time, father will be 40 + y, and with his 3 daughters' ages now summing to 10 (6 + 3 + 1), the daughters will be 10 + 3y, at that time
We then get: 10 + 3y = .8(40 + y)
10 + 3y = 32 + .8y
3y - .8y = 32 - 10
2.2y = 22
