Let P be the Peter's age now.


Then the condition gives you this equation


     +  = 20.


To solve it, multiply both sides of the equation by 6. You will get


    3*(P+2) + 2*(P-3) = 120,

    3P + 6 + 2P - 6 = 120,

    5P              = 120

     P              = 120/5 = 24.


ANSWER.  Peter is 24 years old.
