.
Let x be the Buddy age now.

Then Mark is (x+2) years old.

Then the condition states

(x+2) + 1 = 2(x+1).

Simplify and solve

x + 3 = 2x + 2

3 - 2  = 2x - x.

1 = x

ANSWER. Buddy is 1 years old. Mark is 1+2 = 3 years old.

CHECK.   In  a year  B= 2,   M = 3+1 = 4,  and  4 is twice as 2.   ! Correct !
