Let x be the Ethan's age; then 5x is the Aidan's age. In 4 years 5x + 4 = 3*(x+4) +8 Simplify and solve 5x + 4 = 3x + 12 + 8 5x - 3x = 12 + 8 - 4 2x = 16 x = = 8. Answer. Younger is 8 years old; elder is 5*8 = 40 years old.
