.
f = 5s use this value for f in the equation above:
5s-5 + s-5 = 62
6s - 10 = 62
s = 72/6 = 12
The son is 12, and the problem says that 5 years ago the father was 5 times older than the son, therefore:
f = (12-5)*5 = 35 the father was 35 but that was 5 years ago; today the father is 35+5 = 40 years old.
