q + p = 2(q-p)
q + p = 2q - 2p
Rearrange to
p + 2p = 2q - q
3p = q
The product of their ages 75.
q*p = 75
Find q and p
replace q with 3p in the above equation
3p*p = 75
3p^2 = 75
divide both sides by 3
p^2 = 25
p =
p = 5 yrs
then
q = 3(5)
q = 15 yrs
