FYI: That person suggests that the mother is 12 years-old, the same age as her son. Now, isn't that the most RIDICULOUS thing? I hope you saw that!

 Do it backwards.   Mother is 36 years old. Check, 1/4 of 36 is 9 and 3 more is 12. Correct.
