1st:: 2x-1
2nd:: 2x+1
Equation::
2x-1 + 2x+1 = 36
4x = 36
x = 9
1st: 2*9-1 = 17
2nd:: 2*9+1 = 19

3. Randy is four times as old as Kenneth and Randy is 36 older than Kenneth . How old are they?
Equations:
R = 4K
R = K+36

4K = K+36
3K = 36
Ken = 12 yrs
