This one is obvious to me; but apparently to many it is not quite so easy....

When Michele is twice as old as her sister, we can let their ages be x and 2x. The difference between those two ages is 2x-x = x.

If Michele is now 8 years older than her sister, then she will always be 8 years older than her sister.

And that means x must be 8, which makes 2x equal to 16.

So it is when Michele is 16 that she will be twice as old as her sister.
