Let x be the half Gittas' age.


Then Gittas age is 2x, while Kendra's age is (x+6).


Also, we are given that 


(x+6) + 2x = 57,   or

3x = 57 - 6 = 51.


Hence, x =  = 17.


Thus Gittas' age is 2*17 = 34 years, while Kendra's age is 17+6 = 23 years.
