My son ask me in year 2010 if how old i am that year. I told him that i am x years old in the year x². How old i am now?
This problem, like many on algebra.com is just plain STUPID. No wonder most of the kids can never do well in math.
First of all, this convo. occurred in 2010, and so, if it had said, "I told him that I am WAS x years old in the year x²," then he would've been no other age but 44 in the year 1936.
However, if it had said, "I told him that I am WILL BE x years old in the year x²," then he WILL BE 45 in the year 2025.
This problem says neither so in my opinion, it's DUMB. How can there be a CORRECT answer to this GARBAGE? "I am" denotes the present.
The age, x, according to the problem, is in the present, but it CANNOT be. It has to be either in the past: 44 years-old, or in the future: 45 years-old.
I welcome some feedback!
