Question 1087054: If you could please help me, because I am sincerely struggling trying to figure this out: The ratio of the ages of John and Samy is 3 to 5. In 6 years' time the ratio of their ages will be 3 to 4. How old is Samy?
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Their ages now are 3:5. Let x be the common multiplier. Then:
3x+6/5x+6=3/4
15x+18=12x+24
3x=6
x=2
John is 3(2), or 6. Samy is 5(2), or 10.
In 6 years, John will be 12, and Samy will be 16. ☺☺☺☺
