Darrell is 8 years older then Bryce. If the product of their age is 153,how old is Bryce.
This is what I did:
X(x+8)=153
First of all, . They are considered 2 different variables.
Second, you don't need to set up an equation to solve this. All you need are two factors with a product of 153, and a difference of 8.
If you're familiar with a factor tree, you'll see that the 2 factors that fit these criteria are: 9 and 17. Now, which age is Bryce's?
OR
If you prefer to form the equation, and use the quadratic equation formula to get the required age, then that's also fine, but I know, for a fact,
that the former method is the easiest and the most efficient.
