Your equations are K = C - 2, (1) C-12 = 2(K-12) (2) Substitute the expression (1) to the equation (2), replacing K. You will get C - 12 = 2((C-2)-12). Simplify and solve: C - 12 = 2C - 28, 28 - 12 = C, C = 16. Answer. Clair present age is 16 yeras. Kyle present age is 16-2 = 14.
