Question 1060850: Jack is 4 times as old as Lacy. 8 years ago the sum of their ages was 34. How old are they now?
Answer by addingup(3677) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The problem says that:
J = 4L
J-8+L-8 = 34
4(L-8)+L-8 = 34
4L-8+L-8 = 34
5L-16 = 34
5L = 50
L = 10 and
J = (4*10)= 40
-----------------
Check:
J-8+L-8 = 34
40-8+10-8 = 34
32+2 = 34 Correct
