Let the first ladder be n. Then the 2nd ladder would be 2n, and the 3rd ladder would be 2n+3. So:
n+2n+2n+3=143
5n=140
n=28
The first ladder is 28 ft. long, the 2nd ladder is 56 ft., and the 3rd is 59 ft. long. ☺☺☺☺
