I have to show work with a linear equation.

c + e = 22
c = 2e + 1
-------
Substitute for "c" and solve for "e"::
2e+1 + e = 22
3e = 21
Edgar = 7 yrs
-----
Solve for "c"::
c = 2e + 1
c = 2*7+1
Charlotte = 15 yrs
