I will solve #1 only. 

Let x be your age now.

Then the condition says that

x + 6 = 2(x-8).

Simplify and solve:

x + 6 = 2x - 16  --->  6 + 16 = 2x - x  --->  22 = x.

Answer. You are 22 years old now.

Check.  x + 6 = 22 + 6 = 28.
               x - 8 = 22 - 8 = 14.    28 = 2*14.  Correct!
