Mother.s age will be 4x
6 years ago
Daughter was X-6 years
Mother was 4x-6 years
The product of their ages
(X-6)(4x-6) =136
4x^2-24x-6x+36=136
4x^2-30x+36=136
4x^2-30x-100=0
4x^2-40x+10x-100=0
4x(X-10)+10(X-10)=0
(4x+10)(X-10)=0
Either 4x+10=0 or X-10=0
So X= -10/4 or X=10
Age cannot be negative
Therefore X=10 , daughter,s age
Mother,s age =4x => 4x10=40 years
