Call their ages NOW, a and m. Then we have
a = 2m and in four years
a + 4 = (5/3)(m + 4)
Substituting and solving we get
2m + 4 = (5/3)(m + 4)
2m + 4 = (5/3)m + 20/3
(1/3)m = 8/3
m = 8
a = 16
